The debut release from Intellectually Sound, Intellectually Sound Presents: Beats and a Poem Vol.1, is now available!
This is the first installation in a series of compilations showcasing the varied artists and subgroups within Intellectually Sound. Featuring production from 2x, the Byrdman, Omid(beneath the surface music-www.omidpage.com), and Jon Munday, its sound varies from upbeat danceable, to downtempo chill, to aggressive politically driven rhymes. While in a genre all their own, this "headhop" is the next generation in the evolution of hip hop. Straying away from the crunk, "hippop" party music the media has turned hip hop into, Intellectually Sound delves deeper into the art form. Offering funk, soul, electronic, acid jazz, turntablism, eclectic, experimental, progressive, and traditional hip hop, it's 66 minutes of genre bending, powerful music. With the surge of conscious hip hop artists to emerge over the last decade, some might say Intellectually Sound falls in that category. Conscious? Maybe, but they call it headhop.
